These notes provide a general introduction to the Internet and its underlying protocols and technologies.
They are primarily based on the following sources:
- Computer Networking: A Top-Down Approach (8th edition, 2021) by Jim Kurose and Keith Ross
- Computer Networks: A Systems Approach (6th edition, 2024) by Larry Peterson and Bruce Davie
The structure closely follows that of Kurose and Ross's book. The first book was the main source, while the second was used for further clarification when necessary.
In addition, I incorporated notes and diagrams gathered over the years from various other sources, including:
- Engineering in Plain Sight (2022) by Grady Hillhouse
- Ethical Hacking - A Hands-on Introduction to Breaking In (2021) by Daniel G. Graham
- Geopolitics at the Internet's Core (2025) by Fiona M. Alexander, Laura DeNardis, Nanette S. Levinson, Francesca Musiani
- How the Internet Really Works - an Illustrated Guide to protocols, privacy, censorship, and governance (2020) by Mallory Knodel, Ulrike Uhlig, Niels ten Oever, Corinne Cath
- Practical Packet Analysis (2017) by Chris Sanders
